A little piece of Jamaica is coming to London’s East End this summer. Greenwich’s iconic O2 arena will be transformed into a slice of the Caribbean during London 2012 to play host to the travelling fans and athletes from the home of reggae.
The colourful island nation is widely favoured to dominate on the track once again. But outside the confines of the Olympic Stadium, Jamaica House will be the place to go for those wanting to capture the nation’s legendary party spirit.
Starting on 3 August from 4 p.m.–midnight, cultural events from fashion to food will be offered to showcase some of the country’s greatest achievements, as Jamaica celebrates 50 years of independence. The celebrations will also spread beyond Jamaica House, with
further exhibitions from The Bob Marley Messenger, to the ‘Best in Jamaican Comedy series also available elsewhere inside the O2.
As the sun sets each day, the party really kicks into gear – Jamaican style! Each night carries the promise of live music, traditional Caribbean food and an atmosphere that will make this the ideal home away from home for those travelling to support Jamaican athletes.
