12:28 p.m. Right now there are no queues at the German House. It’s just a few people inside enjoying a few beers and watching the morning athletics. Join the fun!
The German team will be in a battle with Team GB for the most medals among European nations at the London 2012 Games, so why not enjoy a friendly rivalry at German House, with the nation’s very own ‘Deutsches Haus Fan Fest’?
Open from 12pm to midnight each day, German House promises to deliver an authentic piece of Deutschland. The historic Museum of London Docklands will be the hub for the team’s national celebrations as German tourists and locals come to be part of the revelry.
The highlight of the German House is the Fan Fest. It features live music, plus big screens to watch events on whilst indulging in some traditional German food and drink. There will also be numerous theme nights celebrating the various German regions, including a commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the 1972 Munich Olympics.
Entrance to the Fan Fest is free before 5pm, and costs £10 after. Tickets can be purchased on site.
1,500 people are expected to make their way to the German House each day and soak in the atmosphere, and given the venue’s prime historic location (that also happens to be near the Games sites) it’s likely to be a hot spot throughout the Olympic fortnight.
